Measuring prestressed steel
07.05.2012
A control system has been designed for prestressed steel manufacturers to help with incoming goods inspections. It measures the profile depth of the incoming batches of prestressed steel and stores the results in a database. Minimum profile depth is very important to ensure high quality and stability in prestressed concrete. This measuring system uses a laser sensor to traverse along the steel wire and then digitally reproduces the 2D profile. The software determines the profile depth for the entire length. The database links the samples with the relevant suppliers and batches to prevent any defective batches going into production.
